Name: Count D Series/Anime/Manga/Etc: Pet Shop of Horrors Age: Unknown- late 20s to possible early 30s? (I'd say around 28-29 by his comic/cartoon designs) Reason for being at the Garden: Teacher- Business Ethics Rooming asignment: Heather West Personality: Tranquil to the point of almost being infuriating at times would be a good way to describe D's usual demeanor. He usually speaks in a very quiet, yet precise tone, and normally appears to be observing a scene instead of actively participating in it. There are times where his personality can change, however, usually if his business or the few people he cares about are threatened. Normally this manifests itself as a quick change in his tone of voice, or a sudden outburst, but on the rare occasion that he's pushed to his limit, he can physically lash out at someone or something (usually by attempting to grab and subdue them, or striking them). Sexuality: Bisexual with leanings towards Asexual. D's main focus in his life went from running his grandfather's pet shop to teaching, and as that usually takes up most of his time, he hasn't had the chance to become that interested in his love life. He will, occasionally, compliment someone (like on an outfit or a hair style), but if they're sincere compliments or simply his business side talking is something only he knows.
Background: Count D, as he's commonly referred to, immigrated to the United States at the age of 14 with his grandfather. His parents were the victims of a planned hit by a group of people who thought they brought the city D was raised in bad luck. Fearing for his grandson's safety, his grandfather arranged to move, and two years later, did so, settling in New York's Chinatown.
D grew up with a love of animals, preferring their company to most humans. He studied them, and seemed to take after the rest of his family in his understanding of them. He helped his grandfather with his pet shop ("Count D's Pet Shop") once out of college, and took over running it for him while the man attended business matters abroad.
To anyone not involved with the shop, it looked normal, one of the many pet shops in New York, with a slightly wider selection of animals. To the customers who came in looking for a throw away animal they could own for a year and then abandon, they usually received something much different. Legality and ethics became D's best friends as he'd studied both while finishing his education, and this culminated in presenting almost all of his clients with a three term contract. The contracts usually outlined the basic rules for caring for their newly purchased pet, and a clause waiving D and the pet shop from any liability if the terms weren't followed to the letter. Despite the rather odd business practices, his shop flourished, and his grandfather resumed running it upon his return about 4 years later. Count D, wanting something new to keep his mind occupied, looked for a new job and eventually applied for a teaching position at Poseidon Academy. When it was pointed out that D had never taught a formal class before, he simply smiled and continued filling out the required paperwork.
